Youth Events

Confirmation Program

In middle school or high school, students will study for two years the Hebrew Scriptures (Old Testament), New Testament, Martin Luther’s Small Catechism, and Faithful Living in Community with All to learn how to live into their baptismal promises. It is our hope that youth may learn how to say what they believe and who they are in the Body of Christ. Confirmation classes will resume on Tuesday, September 19th at 6:30 p.m. and will continue weekly on Tuesdays until December 20th.

Youth Convocation

The 2023 Synod Assembly of the Southwestern Pennsylvania Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America was held Friday, June 16, 2023 and Saturday, June 17, 2023. Every year in June the Southwestern Pennsylvania Synod gathers in assembly to discuss and make decisions about our work together. At this meeting, one Young Adult Representative (between ages of 18 and 30 at time of election) was elected for a 4-year term, and one Youth Representative (youth has not reached the age of 18 at time of election) was elected for a 2-year term.

Stay at Home Mission Work Camp

A ministry of the Southwestern Pennsylvania Synod where youth from around the synod gather at one church, where they stay for the week. The days are filled with work projects, and in the evenings they play games, hang out, and enjoy communtiy and conversation with one another.

ELCA Youth Gathering

Every three years, Lutheran youth from around the ELCA and other Lutheran world federation churches gather in a host city for worship, service, study, and fun activities. The next ELCA Youth Gathering , along with partner events MYLE (Multicultural Youth Leadership Event) and table (an event for differently abled youth) will be in New Orleans in 2024.  Click here for more information.

Youth Committee
